Pepsi
Pitch, Hit & Run
The
Pepsi Pitch, Hit & Run is a free event
for the kids and provides youngsters in the Blaine area an opportunity to
participate in an exciting baseball skills competition. Formerly known as Diamond Skills,
this national initiative gives boys and girls, ages 7-14, the chance to showcase
their pitching, hitting, and running abilities.
In 2004, the event will be held on Saturday, May 22, from 10
AM to 1:00 PM. It will be held on field #1 at the Blaine Baseball Complex
at 1150 Paul Parkway. Come anytime between the hours of 10 AM and 1 PM and
compete. Once you have finished, you are free to leave. Results will
be posted on this website later in the day, and winners will receive their
ribbons and sectional instructions in the mail.
Pitch, Hit & Run tests three of the most fundamental aspects
of baseball: pitching, hitting, and running.

Each participant hits a ball off a stationary tee
for distance and accuracy. |
Each participant is timed, starting from second
base, touching third then home. |
All events are individually scored and converted to a total
point score through the use of conversion tables. Boys and girls compete
together at all levels of competition.
Winners advance
to the Sectionals. Winners of the Sectionals travel on to the Team
Championship held before a Twins Game in June or July. Winners of the Team
Championship will then travel to Houston, Tx for the National Finals during
the All-Star Game festivities.
